1 Timothy

Timothy was the son of a Greek father and a Jewish mother, making him half Jew, half Gentile. He became a Christian through Paul, and in every way he was Paul’s spiritual son. He was a close companion, and aided Paul in his ministry. This first letter from Paul to Timothy was to urge him to stay at Ephesus in order to lead the Ephesian church, instructing them in sound doctrine, orderly worship, confrontation of false teaching, and church governance. Paul exhorted Timothy to live a life above reproach, giving the church a much-needed example to emulate.
