As he awaited execution, Paul wrote this second letter to Timothy, continuing to direct his hope to Christ, encouraging him to remain steadfast in his ministry, and charging him to entrust all of Paul’s teachings to faithful men who will in turn instruct others. He continues to show his concern for sound doctrine, as he exhorts Timothy to preach the word of God in its entirety, and he warns him what people will be like in the last days.
