Amos was a fearless farmer who was called to prophesy during a time of prosperity and extravagance, which brought corruption, idolatry, and oppression for the poor. Amos condemned the people for their apostasy and social injustice, and urged them to repent of their hypocrisies and “let justice roll down like waters.” True worship of God brings about justice, and Amos reminded the people of God’s judgement, as well as His promise to restore a faithful remnant.
