The book of Philippians is a very personal letter from Paul to the church in Philippi. It overflows with thanksgiving, joy, and encouragement. Paul himself was in prison while writing this letter, and emphasizes finding joy in all circumstances. This was of special relevance to the church, since they were facing persecution and false teachers in their midst. This book is encouraging for all Christians today facing difficult circumstances, and provides one of the best passages on humility in the Bible, with Christ as our example.
